Peter encouraged believers to live strong lives through persecution. Now he deals with false teaching that is so self-destructive.
God’s Word is the foundation and those who have only shallow knowledge of it have superficial resistance to false teachings.
Peter warns Christians about false teachers and urges believers to grow in their faith.

A letter from John to emphasize the importance of love in our Christian walk and also to warn against false teachings that threatens love.
Real love cannot be separated from truth and obedience. We must believe that the principles found in God’s Word are true and that God Himself is Truth.
If we believe that God’s Word is true then we must follow (obey) it. God’s word tells us to love one another, If we are committed to following the truth, we must love.
False teaching will claim that love has nothing to do with God’s Truth and obedience.
Love one another and beware of false teachers
John is an old man now, he writes to his friend Gaius to commend him for the hospitality he has been showing traveling missionaries, many of whom John had personally sent to that church.
Hospitality is a friendly hand shake, a warm smile, a good meal…making people feel welcomed.
Hospitality does not go unnoticed. It earns well deserved praise, in John’s time and in ours. How we treat others is a visible badge of honor, revealing our true character to others.
God’s people should live by standards of the gospel
A letter from Jude to remind the church of the need for constant vigilance… to stay away from false teachings.
Jude’s contention that false teaching will increase and continue to threaten the church makes this letter a fitting introduction to Revelation, which describes God’s new Kingdom, where only truth and peace will prevail.
In this letter to the church at large, Jude warns believers to resist false teachers. Their work is false and they are doomed to destruction. They will be judged as surely as Sodom and Gomorrah were for their immorality.
The dangers of false teachers
Our responsibility to fight for God’s truth
